Increase Throughput & Productivity by 20-25%
|
|
A multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company piloted an mc2solution in an
area of development with 20 resources, 25 projects and approximately 140
timelines. The initiative was fraught with uncertainty at two levels. Despite
this, they accomplished the following:
20-25% Throughput and Productivity Improvement
Started 2005 Program in early 4Q04
Team saw the “big picture” which improved teamwork and focus
The resources knew the expectations up-front which reduced anxiety and
built trust
Today, the company is rolling out mc2solutions in other key areas of their
business with good success.

Reduce Project Intervals by 30-50%
| |
Don’t fall for the gurus that tell you speed is not important. It is and it will
continue to be.
A large, telecommunication equipment company implemented an
mc2solution in a development organization of over 3000 people. They
deliver about 800 projects per year (mostly software) and typically have 400
active projects.
16 months after the implementation ramp-up, this organization delivered
over 200 (major and minor) projects and measured project interval
reductions of 30-50% on a consistent basis. On-time deliveries improved
from 55% to over 90%.
By institutionalizing their mc2solution (through process changes and
software tools), this organization was able to make permanent their new
level of throughput and productivity.

Finish Projects Early while Improving Quality!
|
|
A software organization of approximately 50 developers and testers
implemented an mc2solution. Within a few months, they began delivering
projects early. This was significant since, up until then, every project, for as
long as folks could remember, was late. One large project which, in the
past, would have taken 260 days to complete was completed in a stunning
115 days.
6 months after implementing an mc2solution and getting feedback on the
quality of the software delivered by measuring field bugs/defects, they were
pleased to measure that the number of bugs/defects was slashed in half!
The quality of the product increased along with the speed of delivery.

Double Throughput in 2 Years!
|
|
A large US. manufacturer of home appliance products continually under
serious foreign competition was delivering 34 new products per year
through their product development pipeline.
In 1 year they increased their Throughput to 52 products and in 2 years,
they were up to 70+ products. This was done with no increase in headcount.

More Predictable and On-Time Deliveries!
|
|
In any product development organization, sales and marketing is counting
on engineering and manufacturing to deliver products reliably and on-time.
Trade shows depend on it, product marketing launches depend on it,
seasonal selling cycles depend on it.
A multi-billion dollar semiconductor company implemented an mc2solution
to solve this problem once and for all. 6 months before the implementation,
product deliveries were 30% late on average with a variability range of +/-
40%. 6 months after the implementation, product deliveries were 0% late on
average (i.e. on-time) with a variability range of only +/-20%.

Reduce Stress, Increase Job Satisfaction!
|
|
A $500 million dollar manufacturer of custom computer products was
struggling with an overworked product development staff which suffered
from burn-out and low morale.
Their implementation delivered some striking SOFT benefits in addition to
the usual hard benefits (higher throughput, lower cycle times, etc.). The
SOFT benefits were:
A notable reduction in stress coupled with an increase in employee job
satisfaction. Overtime and weekends were no longer the norm.
Project status review meetings reduced from a monthly 2 hour meeting
where only the top 3-5 projects got discussed to a review of ALL active
projects (approximately 30) as part of the 30-minute, weekly staff meeting.
This was a significant savings of time and eliminated project surprises.
